January 4, 2014

The Area 18 Games Day was held at Hua Yi Secondary School on the 31 May 2014. The Area 18 Games Day aims to foster relationships between the Area 18 family through the means of games and activities.

This year, 11 units had participated in this annual event. Besides unit from area 18 such as Fuhua Secondary School, Hong Kah Secondary School, Bukit Batok Secondary School, Bukit View Secondary School, Commonwealth Secondary School, Shuqun Secondary School, Jurongville Secondary School and Huayi Secondary School. We are glad to have participation from other areas/units such as Nan Hua High School, Tanglin Secondary School, Raffles Institution and Whitley Secondary School.

Apart from just winning medals and having fun, we hope that the cadets had learn something out of event. Below are reflections from two Secondary 2 cadets.IMG_4389

“I felt very excited in participating in the games day as we get to bond together with other schools NPCC unit. I participated in 2 games which is monopoly deal and floorball. I am glad to play with Asyifa during the monopoly deal and floorball with our NPCC sec 2 girls. I am glad to say that we won in floorball  with only girls and without any boys and we won the second place which was a tight match between all boys team . It was tiring when me and Asyifa had to run here and there to go to our 2 games that has a crashed timing but in the end we went to the finals for both games. All in all, I feel happy to be able to bond not only with my squadmates and seniors but also with other members of NPCC Area 18.”  – Ruqaiyah, Secondary 2 Cadet

“This year’s Area Games Day, I personally felt that it was very fun and exciting, and a worthwhile experience for all to enjoy. It was a meaningful event, because there were many games for different schools to participate in, like dodgeball, handball, monopoly deal, etc. I learnt about many values and their importance, such as teamwork, sportsmanship, integrity and being fair. In my opinion, the thing that is good about this activity is that we managed to clinch 1st place for the marbles and 2nd place for the floorball competition. Nevertheless, even if we did not win any trophies/medals, it is still a rewarding opportunity for each and every one of us to make friends and foster bonds with peers from other schools.” – Siew Lay, Secondary 2 Cadet

We hope that the cadets had a enjoyable and rewarding experience!
